Ickey Woods Youth Foundation

The Ickey Woods Youth Foundation is
a non-profit organization established to provide guidance and mentoring to at
risk inner city youth in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. The "Shuffle to Success"
program seeks to develop its participants (the Icksters) through various
activites based on the "Whole Person" concept which simply states that all
individuals can achieve their full potential when they are developed physically,
mentally (intellectually) and spiritually (service to others). We The stated
mission of the foundations is:
"To create and administer programs that will insure that all active participants
are accepted into society at their highest potential"
The "Shuffle to Success" program seeks to target youths ages 6 - 18 years of age
through after school programs designed to teach each "Ickster" lessons that will
help them develop the social skills necessary to succeed in life. The program
focuses on building strong bodies through exercise programs. Through the use of
exercise equipment and various sports activities, the desired development of
strong bodies can be achieved in a positive environment. In addition, the focus
is on developing social skills through team building exercises and friendly
competition.
The focus on intellectual growth is achieved through various tutorial programs
as well as participation in clubs such as Chess, music and dance.
Spiritual development comes in the form of public service to others. The
Icksters will participate in various fundraisers for worthy causes as wekk as
volunteer their time to visit elderly in nursing homes and other youth in
Children's Hospital.
The Ickey Woods Youth Foundation "Shuffle to Success" program seeks to truly
develop all aspects of the individual.
